Everybody loves sea turtles
With your support, we can build a new rescue center in Israel, and give these special creatures a real future.
They Need Us, Now.
Sea turtles in the Middle East
Sea turtles in the Middle East are critically endangered, and without our help, will surely become extinct.
Sea turtles are found on Israel’s shores every year, wounded or dead

Sea turtle hatchlings will survive to maturity
All 3 species of sea turtles in Israel are endangered.
These turtles face constant threats from human negligence, as they get caught in fishing hooks, plastic bags, and torpedo boats. They face strangulation, as well as the breaking and amputation of their limbs.
A Glimmer of Hope.
With your support, the INHFA can build a new rescue center for these sea turtles in Israel — the only one in the entire Middle East region.
This rescue center will be able to treat, care for, and release sea turtles back into the ocean, bringing them back from the brink of extinction.
How We're Changing Their Reality
As the only rescue center in the Middle East, the sea turtle rescue center off Israeli shores plays a vital role in ensuring that sea turtles will remain a part of the region’s ecosystem.
Volunteers operate the center.
Sea turtles were treated at the center over the past year.
First breeding nucleus of its kind in the world!
Schoolchildren visit the center every year.
What do we do exactly?
Treat, rehabilitate, and release over 160 injured sea turtles a year.
70% of the sea turtles who received treatment at the rescue center are
reintroduced to the ocean!
Maintain a breeding site for up to 30 green sea turtles
Relocate 95% of all unprotected turtle nests in Israel each year.
Offer guided visits for the general public hosting over 30,000 students.
Invent new treatment technologies such as the buoyancy device for amputated sea turtles.
Research turtle biology and behavior.
To do all of this, we seek to transform the center into a regional hub for the treatment, rehabilitation, and study of sea turtles and their habitat.
Meet the Father of the Sea Turtle Rescue Mission:
Dr. Yaniv Levy
The story of sea turtles protection in Israel begins with the efforts, passion and strong belief of one man — Dr. Yaniv Levy.
In his twenties, after returning from a trip overseas encountering and learning about these incredible species, Dr. Levy found a wounded sea turtle on the beach in Israel. After discovering there was no place to treat it, he took the turtle to his house and nursed him back to health. His efforts were revealed to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA), which then gave him a small place near the beach to rehabilitate and release sea turtles back into the ocean.
Since then, twenty years later, Dr. Levy’s small facility has been rehabilitating the wounded turtles that wander onto the shores of Israel. It takes constant care and deep dedication to save this endangered species, and Dr. Levy has that dedication!
